Summary

The Youngtown Hydrogeological Landscape (HGL) is characterised by a north-west south-east, fault-zone parallel, elongate ridge of deeply weathered dolerite. This HGL is located in southern Launceston. This is an area of moderate rainfall (680 mm). It is similar in structure, rock type and regolith development, to the Reed HGL.

Typical lithologies for this HGL are deeply weathered Jurassic dolerite and fractured Jurassic dolerite.
